"I pop the hood on an organization's internal systems and tinker with the engine to improve performance, efficiency, and delivery of their mission."

Eric Whitney is currently the Director of Business Technology at The Achievement Network, a nonprofit working alongside school leadership teams to strengthen their school-wide practice and culture of using learning standards and achievement data to get breakthrough results for students in low-income communities. Eric recently completed dual degrees from Boston University’s School of Management, including an MBA in Public and Nonprofit Management as well as a Masters in Information Systems. While at BU, he was selected as an Education Pioneers Fellow and voted President of the Public & Nonprofit Management Club. In his capstone year at BU, Eric consulted with several nonprofits on their data management strategies to identify and track metrics for measuring organizational and program success.

Eric previously worked for five years at the education reform nonprofit Citizen Schools where he successfully implemented org-wide business process systems including job applicant tracking, intranets, and fundraising databases. He has established experience in bringing information management systems to a national scale and has received recognition for his collaborative abilities in working across traditional organizational functional boundaries. Eric’s passion for education reform is fueled through his past AmeriCorps*VISTA service, his involvement on the Boston Education Pioneers Alumni Board, and his continued mentoring of a Little Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay.
